From 1974 to 1985, Bitomsky was an editor at the magazine “Filmkritik.” Several of his colleagues from that time turn up in this production to discuss Robert Bresson’s feature film L’argent (Money, France 1983). Black-and-white photographs are examined like pieces of evidence when the counterfeit money changes hands once again. This segment for the German broadcaster WDR program “Kino 83,” which was co-directed with Manfred Blank and Harun Farocki, is a reflective exploration of Bresson and, at the same time, a critical self-examination.
